The Rabbinical School's communal spirit continually impressed prospective students as they toured this past year.
"Being in
hevruta (partner study) has carried over to the students being more deeply involved in what happens in each others' lives. It's palpable for someone who comes in to observe," says Rabbi Carol Glass, the Rabbinical School's dean of students.
This
klal Yisrael community has attracted an exceptional incoming class with a diversity of talents, geographical backgrounds and languages. "They have a wide range of interests and a lot of curiosity about the world, and I think they're in love with the idea of becoming a rabbi," says Glass.
Responding to the school's growth, administrators are looking to fill part-time positions in Bible,
halakhah and Bet Midrash instruction as well as admissions. They are also developing a paid internship program, which will run from the second through the fifth year. Internship placements will likely include social service agencies, day schools, unaffiliated synagogues, chaplaincies, Hillels and Jewish communal organizations.
Admissions for the fall will remain open through the spring. To learn more about study and employment at the Rabbinical School, as well as a newly created Rabbinical School Scholarship fund, contact Frankie Snyder, 617-559-8632 or
