When Wheelock College President Marjorie Bakken invited the Hebrew College community back to Hawes Street on September 16, visitors enjoyed a nostalgic look at the way things wereeven before Hebrew College occupied the building. After Wheelock purchased the beaux-arts mansion from Hebrew College in November 2001, they made significant renovations, restoring the main building to its original 1902 design. The result? The library that Hebrew College alumni, faculty, staff and trustees remember is now a social hall; once-hidden stained glass now brightens upper hallways; and the side doors in the former library now open onto the original front lawn.
