NEW COLLEGE BOARD CONVENES

Marking a milestone in the College's five-year strategic plan—redesigning its leadership structure—the new governing Board of Trustees of Hebrew College met for the first time on February 4. The culmination of over a year of planning, the new structure calls for two boards: a 15-member Board of Trustees, which will be actively involved in day-to-day decision making, and a reconfigured Board of Overseers. In addition, a President's Council is in formation, consisting of Hebrew College leaders who will advise and consult with President David Gordis.

"We have entered a new era for Hebrew College," says President Gordis. "As we move along as a far more expansive institution, we require the wisdom, judgment and participation of a broadened leadership group."

The Board of Trustees includes three representatives from outside Boston: Ambassador Alfred Moses, of Washington, D.C.; Diane Troderman, of Springfield, Mass.; and longtime College leader Mort Lowenthal, of Stamford, Conn. New members include Carol Goldberg, Beth Moskowitz and Mark Atkins. Other Trustees elected at the meeting have long been involved in the College's leadership: Betty Brudnick, Mickey Cail, Ted Benard-Cutler, Jason Chudnofsky, Malcolm Hindin, Gary Orren, Leslie Bornstein Stacks, Alan Steinert and Theodore Teplow.
