P'06 has engaged Prozdor's student community by founding the high school's first student newsletter, Kol Hanoar or "Voice of Youth." All students are invited to write and contribute to this weekly publication that includes news of Jewish world events, student opinion pieces, articles on current events and stories about students' personal Jewish experiences. "I wanted to create a publication that gives the students room to say something," says Avraham.
A senior at Newton South High School, Avraham loved his Prozdor experience so much that he's back this year in the
Moreshet leadership programProzdor's senior seminar in leadership training and experience. Some of his favorite memories of Prozdor include Rabbi Michael Morgan's ethics classes, in part for Rabbi Morgan's respectful teaching style and in part for the subject matter. "On top of teaching me about my Jewish background, Prozdor strengthened my moral backbone," Avraham says.
Avraham plans to earn his B.A. in the United States and major in political science and physics. Once he graduates, he plans to return to Israel, where he was born, to serve in the Israel Defense Force and continue his studies. "Prozdor taught me about
tikkun olam," he says. "We should put our strength into our abilities to help others and to better societynot just focus on ourselves."
"I came into Prozdor a proud Jew," Avraham remembers, "and I came out an extremely proud Jew. Prozdor has shaped my personality."
