A seasoned community leader and active member of the Hebrew College Board of Trustees, Ted Cutler has been elected Board Chair for the 2006-07 academic year. Cutler assumes his role during a period of continuing growth and transition at the College, with a goal of strengthening governance structures and expanding the College's philanthropic base of support.
"Under David Gordis's leadership, Hebrew College has grown from a small, respected, local college to one of the nation's leading Jewish academic institutions," said Cutler. "As we continue to move forward, I want to help further the College's mission of providing out-standing academic and community programs to all who want to study, programs that sustain and enrich the quality of Jewish life."
Cutler, who served as Chair of the Board of Trustees in 1999, brings to Hebrew College extensive experience leading academic and community institutions. President of GWV Vacations in Needham, Mass., he is current Chair of the Emerson College Board of Trustees, past Chair of the Board of Directors of Combined Jewish Philanthropies, as well as past CJP Campaign Chair. Cutler serves on many local and national boards, including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the Boston Ballet. He is also Campaign Co-Chair of the Greater Boston Food Bank.
"We are grateful to Ted, one of our community's most respected leaders, for taking on this responsibility at this important period in the College's history," said President David M. Gordis. "I look forward to a fruitful collaboration that will enable us to maintain responsible growth as we continue to expand opportunities for outstanding, inclusive Jewish education-the key to strong Jewish communities."
