What do Jay Cantor, Arthur Green, Marcie Hershman, Rachel Kadish, Joan Leegant, Daniel C. Matt, Grace Paley, Daniel Asa Rose, Rosie Rosenzweig and Jeffrey A. Summit have in common? All of these outstanding authors have read from their newly published works at Fresh Ink! Evenings of New Jewish Writing.

The monthly author series, sponsored by the Center for Adult Jewish Learning and the Gann Library, has featured books on a diverse range of subjects: the art of memoir; the Jews of Uganda; atonement; Great Neck, New York; and the Zohar. Response has been enthusiastic: audiences have swelled to 250. Cosponsors have included the American Jewish Historical Society, and the National Yiddish Book Center as well as Hebrew College's Rabbinical School, Jewish Music Institute and Hasidic Text Institute.

At each event's end, the writers respond to audience questions. Those who want more can sign up to participate in the Fresh Ink! Book Club, for Gann Library members, which discusses the authors' books before they appear at Fresh Ink! Authors to be featured in 2004 include Edith Pearlman and Binnie Kirshenbaum on January 21 and Jonathan Wilson and Risa Miller on February 9.
